As The Littles Grow

So here it is… here is my blog… here is my attempt at helping other parents, like you, in raising these tiny humans.

Here it is people, THE first blog post of the page. I guess I’m jumping on the mom/parent blog band wagon. Since when do parents have the time to write a blog anyway!? But, yet, here we all are… doing it.

I digress.

I’m sure you’re dying to know what my mom blog will entail. My primary focus is education. How can we help our babies and toddlers grow physically, emotionally, and intellectually during the formative years before primary school? I’m here to show you my best attempt.  I currently have a two year old and an infant, so you’ll see many activities focused on the relative ages of my children. My background is in speech language pathology, so I’m sure a lot of our work will be heavy on linguistics.

I’m going to try my best to show you how some structured, planned activities, as well as the in between activities of daily life help your kiddos to grow. Some of the focuses of our work might include: auditory comprehension, expressive communication, social/pragmatic language, cognitive linguistic skills (I.e. problem solving, executive functioning, memory), language arts (I.e. poetry, fiction, nonfiction), sensory integration, gross/fine motor skills, geography/science, math, activities of daily living (I.e. dressing, housework, cooking/making/baking), language immersion (I.e. Spanish and American Sign Language), and Bible study. All the fancy words aside, I invite you to follow along with me as we teach our kids new ideas and as they teach us valuable life lessons too.

As you can already see, this blog will also entail a bit of dry sarcasm, because let’s be real, we can’t get through a ‘snotty, tantrum, regurgitated breastmilk’ filled day without a little humor. I promise, although my pictures might look cute and I laminated some projects, I really don’t have it all together. None of us do!

We’re all out here trying our best to turn our tiny humans into respectable members of society. So here it is… here is my blog… here is my attempt at helping other parents, like you, in raising these tiny humans. Life doesn’t slow down, the days are long, but the years are short, so let’s take advantage of the time we have to nurture our babies’ sense of wonder and then sit back to watch, smile and maybe weep a little… As The Littles Grow.
